Tehran Oil Depot Remains Operational After Israeli Strike, Confirms Iranian Officials

Tehran (National Times): Despite sustaining damage from a suspected Israeli strike, fuel production and distribution at Iran’s Shahran oil depot continue without disruption, according to the country’s oil ministry.

A fire broke out at the depot following the strike, but authorities managed to contain it before it could spread to other fuel tanks. The Iranian Students’ News Agency (ISNA) quoted the Director of Supply and Distribution at the National Petroleum Products Distribution Company, who confirmed that swift emergency measures helped avert a broader catastrophe.

“Thanks to immediate response teams, the fire was prevented from spreading to nearby storage facilities,” the official said.

Operations at the Shahran refinery—located on the outskirts of Tehran—have not been affected, and the supply of petroleum products to both domestic and regional markets remains uninterrupted, ISNA reported.

While Iranian officials have not formally attributed the attack to Israel, the incident comes amid heightened tensions between the two archrivals. In recent months, both countries have exchanged warnings and have been engaged in a series of covert operations and military escalations across the region.

The continuation of refinery operations is being seen as a symbolic show of resilience by Tehran, even as regional observers express concern about further escalation.

No casualties have been reported in the aftermath of the fire, and authorities say a full investigation is underway.
