Punjab Governor Engages with Union Ministers to Advance Key Projects for Punjab and Chandigarh

New Delhi/Chandigarh (National Times): In a determined effort to fast-track the developmental agenda of Punjab and the Union Territory of Chandigarh, Gulab Chand Kataria, Governor of Punjab and Administrator, UT Chandigarh, visited New Delhi, where he held meetings with several Union Ministers.

During his visit, Kataria held detailed discussions with: Nitin Gadkari, Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways, Ashwini Vaishnaw, Union Minister for Railways, Mansukh Mandaviya, Union Minister for Labour & Employment and Youth Affairs & Sports, and Jyotiraditya Scindia, Union Minister for Communications.

The meetings emphasized the Governor’s commitment to improving road and rail connectivity, revamping urban transport systems, and upgrading infrastructure to meet the needs of a growing population. Special focus was placed on enhancing employment opportunities for youth and unlocking potential in the tourism and sports sectors.

A key agenda item was tackling the drug menace, which remains a serious concern in Punjab and Chandigarh. The Governor sought greater collaboration with central agencies to strengthen surveillance, improve rehabilitation services, and expand awareness programs, especially targeting the youth.

These engagements aimed to secure stronger central support and coordination on crucial regional issues, including infrastructure expansion, employment generation, youth engagement, public transport modernization, and combating drug abuse.

The Governor also met with senior ministers from the Government of Rajasthan, Jogaram Patel, Minister for Parliamentary Affairs, Law and Legal Affairs, and Jawahar Singh Bedam, Minister of State for Animal Husbandry, Dairy and Fisheries. These discussions focused on interstate cooperation and the exchange of best governance practices.
