Kanimozhi Leads All-Party Delegation to Russia, Emphasizes Strategic Unity Against Terrorism

Moscow [Russia], May 23, 2025: DMK MP Kanimozhi, heading a multi-nation Indian parliamentary delegation under Operation Sindoor, reaffirmed India’s longstanding strategic partnership with Russia and stressed the urgent need for global unity in combating terrorism. Speaking from Moscow, she highlighted the Indian government’s decision to send representatives from various political parties abroad to present a unified stance against Pakistan-sponsored terror following the deadly Pahalgam attack.

“Russia has always stood by India on global platforms, and it becomes essential to strengthen our cooperation when terror continues to claim Indian lives,” Kanimozhi told ANI. Referring to the April 22 Pahalgam attack that left 26 civilians dead, she said India’s message to the world is clear—there can be no compromise on national security.

During the delegation’s Russia leg, Kanimozhi will meet several high-profile Russian officials including First Deputy Chair of the Committee on International Affairs Andre Denison, State Duma Committee Chair Leonid Slutsky, Deputy Foreign Minister, and former Prime Minister Mikhail Fradkov. The delegation will also engage with Russian think tanks, statisticians, and media to present evidence and articulate India’s position.

Samajwadi Party leader Rajeev Rai, also part of the delegation, emphasized Russia’s enduring support and condemned Pakistan’s global terror footprint. “Pakistan threatens not just India but the entire world. Almost every global terror incident links back to it. It’s time the international community isolates Pakistan,” Rai said.

India’s Operation Sindoor, launched after the Pahalgam massacre, targeted terror camps in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir with precision strikes. After retaliatory shelling from Pakistan, India responded by disabling key military installations across 11 airbases, showcasing its zero-tolerance policy on terrorism.

The all-party delegations, traveling to multiple countries including Russia, Spain, Latvia, Slovenia, and Greece, aim to strengthen international consensus around India’s fight against terrorism and ensure that global forums recognize Pakistan’s role in cross-border militancy. This coordinated diplomatic push marks a pivotal phase in India’s counterterrorism diplomacy post-Operation Sindoor.
