Calgary (Rajeev Sharma): Dashmesh Culture Centre (DCC) in Calgary successfully organized a Mega Kirtan event today, drawing thousands of devotees for a day filled with spiritual reflection and community bonding. The atmosphere resonated with soulful Gurbani Kirtan, creating a peaceful and uplifting environment for attendees of all ages.
The event highlighted the core Sikh values of devotion, unity, and selfless service. The Nagar Kirtan procession began at the Dashmesh Culture Centre and featured six beautifully decorated floats, showcasing Sikh heritage and carrying the holy Palki Sahib.
Leading the Sikh parade were approximately 80 motorcycle riders, police , paramedical team, followed by thousands of participants on foot, proudly representing Sikh culture and traditions. Along the route, free food stalls were generously set up to serve the walking participants.

At Prairie Winds Park, over 120 food stalls offered a wide variety of free dishes to the sangat. Community members actively participated in organizing the langar, managing logistics, and maintaining discipline to ensure the smooth flow of the event.
The event was further graced by the presence of Alberta Premier Danielle Smith, accompanied by several Ministers and MLAs. They extended warm Vaisakhi greetings and acknowledged Sikh Heritage Month, applauding the Sikh community’s contributions to the province. Mayor Jyoti Gondek, NDP Leader Naheed Nenshi, and MLAs Parmeet Boparai, Irfan Sabir, and Guinder Gill also attended the event, sharing their greetings and appreciation with the public.
The DCC management committee extended heartfelt thanks to all sewadars, volunteers, and members of the sangat for their tireless efforts and dedication in making the event a grand success.
