India Strikes Terror Bases in Pakistan in ‘Operation Sindoor’; Army Showcases Gender and Religious Diversity

National Times Bureau, May 7, 2025: In a powerful military and diplomatic statement, India launched “Operation Sindoor,” a targeted strike on nine terrorist bases in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir. The operation was a direct response to the April 22 terror attack in Kashmir that claimed the lives of 26 Hindu pilgrims.

Addressing the media on Monday, top Indian officials confirmed that terror groups like Jaish-e-Mohammed and Lashkar-e-Taiba were behind the attack and continue to operate with impunity from Pakistani soil. Indian Foreign Secretary asserted that Pakistan remains a “safe haven” for terrorists and labelled it as the epicenter of cross-border terrorism.

In a rare and symbolic gesture, the briefing featured both Hindu and Muslim female officers from the Indian Air Force and Army, signaling a strong message of unity, inclusion, and representation within the armed forces.

Military officials detailed that precision strikes were carried out on key terror camps located in Bahawalpur, Muridke, and other strategic zones. The Indian side maintained that the strikes were “measured and non-provocative.” Pakistan, however, condemned the operation as an act of aggression and claimed to have downed Indian aircraft in retaliation.

Global reactions were swift. The United Nations, United States, and China urged both nations to exercise restraint. UN Secretary-General António Guterres called for de-escalation and peaceful dialogue.

The press conference underscored India’s firm stance against terrorism, strategic military resolve, and commitment to diversity in national defense. Operation Sindoor not only retaliated against terrorism but also reinforced India’s message to the world — it will protect its citizens with strength and unity.
