Zirakpur, April 9 – Punjab Governor Gulab Chand Kataria, along with his wife Anita Kataria and daughter Avani, visited Jain saints Sadhvi Shri Sunidhi, M. Shri Sajag, and M. Shri Samahi in Zirakpur to celebrate Navkar Mantra Day with great spiritual fervor.
Naresh Jain, head of the local Jain Sabha at Ahimsa Bhavan, shared that on this auspicious occasion, the saints emphasized the spiritual power of the Navkar Mantra and the teachings of the 24th Tirthankara, Lord Mahavira. They urged people to embody these values in daily life. The saints also lauded Governor Kataria’s dedication to de-addiction efforts and women empowerment.
During his address, Governor Kataria highlighted Jain values and spoke on various contemporary issues. He praised the global shift toward vegetarianism, calling it beneficial for health and the environment. Urging communities to unite, he appealed for grand celebrations of Mahavir Jayanti and stressed the need to connect youth with religion from an early age.
The Governor commended the Jain community’s economic contributions despite its smaller population, noting its organizational strength and discipline. His words left the audience inspired.
The event was efficiently managed by prominent community members including Satish Jain, K.V. Jain, Ashok Jain, Pawan Jain, Jaipal Jain, Satish Jain (Mansa), and Jatin Jain. The stage arrangements were successfully overseen by Arvind Jain from Delhi. Though Governor Kataria kept a distance from media interactions, the event saw tight security with SSP Mohali Deepak Pareek and a strong police presence on-site.
