Uttarakhand Weather Update: Heavy Rain Alert in 5 Districts, Yellow Warning Issued

Dehradun (Rajeev Sharma): The Meteorological Department has issued a yellow alert for heavy rain in five districts of Uttarakhand, including Dehradun, Uttarkashi, Rudraprayag, Pithoragarh, and Bageshwar. The state is likely to experience spells of heavy rainfall today, while an orange alert for heavy to very heavy rain has been issued for Tuesday in some regions, particularly Dehradun and Bageshwar.

The weather in the state has been highly variable, with clouds and sunshine alternating throughout the day. In Dehradun, brief sunny intervals have been followed by showers, creating a mix of humid heat and temporary relief from high temperatures. Despite the rain, temperatures in Dehradun remained two degrees Celsius above normal on Sunday.

Heavy showers were recorded in various parts of the state, including the mountainous regions, where rainfall was accompanied by thunder and lightning. On the Char Dham Yatra routes, light to moderate rain was reported in several places, while parts of Kumaon experienced heavier downpours.

According to the Meteorological Center, the weather will remain unstable over the next 48 hours. Lightning and thundershowers are expected in most districts, with the possibility of intensified rainfall from Tuesday onward.

Authorities have urged residents and pilgrims to remain cautious and avoid traveling to landslide-prone areas during heavy rain alerts.
