Dehradun, September 2, 2025– Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami has delivered on a key promise by approving 10 percent horizontal reservation in government jobs for demobilized Agniveers. On Monday, the Department of Personnel and Vigilance issued the Horizontal Reservation Rules–2025 for Direct Recruitment to Uniformed Posts in Group-C Services under the State of Uttarakhand.
Scope of Reservation
Under the new regulation, ex-Agniveers will receive 10 percent reservation in uniformed posts including Police Constable (Civil/PAC), Sub-Inspector, Platoon Commander PAC, Fireman, Fire Officer Grade-II, Jail Guard, Deputy Jailor, Forest Guard, Forester, Excise Constable, Enforcement Constable, and Secretariat Security Guard. Provisions have also been made for their recruitment in the Tiger Protection Force.
Dhami’s Statement
Chief Minister Dhami termed the move a step toward securing the future of Agniveers. “Former Agniveers who have served the nation are the pride of our state. It is our responsibility to provide them respect and employment opportunities. This decision is a concrete step toward securing their future. Our government is making every effort to provide employment opportunities for ex-servicemen and Agniveers,” he said.
Support for Martyrs’ Families
The state government has also enhanced benefits for families of martyrs and decorated soldiers. The ex-gratia amount for families of fallen soldiers has been raised from ₹10 lakh to ₹50 lakh, while compensation for Param Vir Chakra awardees has been increased from ₹50 lakh to ₹1.5 crore. Additionally, one family member of a martyr will be given a government job.
Sainya Dham Completed
To honor the state’s strong military heritage, the construction of the Sainya Dham in Dehradun the state’s fifth dham has been completed. The dham is expected to serve as a living memorial to Uttarakhand’s valor and sacrifice, and a place to inspire future generations with the stories of bravery.
