UP Sikh Gurdwara Coordination Committee Delegation Meets Uttarakhand Governor Over Gurdwara Gyan Godri Sahib

Lucknow (Gurpreet Singh): — A five-member delegation from the Uttar Pradesh Sikh Gurdwara Coordination Committee met with Uttarakhand Governor Lieutenant General (Retd) Gurmit Singh to submit a memorandum regarding the historic Gurdwara Gyan Godri Sahib, reiterating the community’s demand for the early return of the holy site to the Sikh community. During the courtesy meeting, the delegation also expressed formal gratitude to the Governor for his sensitive and peaceful resolution of the recent dispute that arose between Sikh pilgrims and local citizens during the Sri Hemkund Sahib Yatra.

The president of the committee, Sardar Parvinder Singh Advocate, stated that the organisation has been working continuously since 2017 for the re-establishment of Gurdwara Gyan Godri Sahib and its restoration to the Sikh community. He emphasized that the location holds immense spiritual and historical significance, having been sanctified by the footprints of the first Sikh Guru, Sri Guru Nanak Dev Ji Maharaj. The delegation highly appreciated the Governor’s deep affection and respect for the Sikh community, thanking him for his consistent guidance and serious approach toward resolving regional issues.

In response, Governor Gurmit Singh acknowledged the persistent efforts made by Sardar Parvinder Singh over the years and assured the delegation that the Uttarakhand government is looking into the matter with utmost seriousness. The Governor further promised that every possible effort would be made to find a respectful, positive, and amicable solution to the Gurdwara Gyan Godri Sahib issue. The visiting delegation included prominent members Sardar Charanjit Singh, Sardar Harpreet Singh, Sardar Ranveer Singh, and Advocate Simal Mishra.
