Chandigarh (Balwinder Singh): The Haryana government has brought beekeeping under the Mukhyamantri Bagwani Bima Yojana, extending insurance protection to beekeepers against losses caused by natural disasters, fire, transportation accidents and disease outbreaks. Announcing the decision in Chandigarh on October 27, Haryana Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare Minister Shyam Singh Rana said the move was aimed at reducing the financial risks faced by farmers and entrepreneurs engaged in beekeeping. Under the scheme, losses caused by beehive boxes and colonies being submerged during floods, destroyed in fires or damaged in transportation accidents will be covered.
