Punjab Aims to Become National Education Hub, Expedites University Status for Private Colleges

Chandigarh, June 2, 2025 — Punjab Higher Education Minister Harjot Singh Bains has declared the state’s intention to emerge as India’s education hub by accelerating the approval process for private colleges seeking university status. In a high-level meeting with representatives from 18 private institutions, Bains directed officials to eliminate delays and ensure merit-based, transparent evaluations of all pending applications.He appointed Director Higher Education Girish Dayalan as the Nodal Officer to oversee and monitor the proposals in real time.
