Chandigarh (Balwinder Singh)— In a major move to deliver long-term employment stability and economic protection to municipal sanitation staff, the Haryana Government has approved bringing sweepers employed on municipal rolls under the purview of the Haryana Contractual Employees (Security of Service) Act, 2024. Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini has granted in-principle approval to the proposal, extending near-parity benefits with regular public servants to thousands of frontline municipal workers across the state. The policy initiative impacts 13,093 municipal-roll sanitation workers who currently receive a monthly remuneration of 20,590 rupees.
