Chandigarh (Balwinder Singh): In a high-level meeting held at Haryana Bhawan, New Delhi, on Thursday, April 23, 2026, Suzuki Motor Corporation CEO Toshihiro Suzuki met with Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini to discuss future expansion plans. During the interaction, Toshihiro Suzuki promised that the company would continue to prioritize Haryana for its future investments, asserting that Suzuki is committed to supporting the progress of both India and the state of Haryana. The Chief Minister reciprocated by assuring the CEO of continued administrative support and incentives to maintain the state’s status as a premier industrial hub.

Toshihiro Suzuki informed the Chief Minister that the company is currently focusing on hybrid and CNG vehicles. He stated that if the company decides to set up a new plant for electric vehicles (EVs) in the future, Haryana would undoubtedly be their first choice for investment. Additionally, Suzuki is making significant strides in the renewable energy sector with plans to set up nine compressed biogas plants, two of which are already operational. The CEO also requested the state’s cooperation for the production and sale of “strong hybrid” vehicles at the upcoming Kharkhoda plant, suggesting that the new Industrial Policy 2026 should include specific provisions for hybrid and CNG technologies.

Beyond industrial cooperation, the meeting also focused on cultural ties. Chief Minister Saini invited Toshihiro Suzuki to attend the International Gita Seminar at Tokyo University on June 20, 2026, as a guest of honour. The Chief Minister also proposed a “Sister City” memorandum of understanding (MoU) between Kurukshetra and a prominent Japanese city to enhance cultural exchange.
