State Election Commissioner hails peaceful and transparent conduct of Haryana local body polls

Chandigarh (Balwinder Singh): The Haryana State Election Commission successfully concluded the general and by-elections for municipal and Panchayati Raj institutions across the province on Sunday. State Election Commissioner Devender Singh Kalyan confirmed that the entire voting process was conducted in a peaceful, fair, and highly organized manner. To ensure the credibility and transparency of the democratic exercise, the commission had implemented comprehensive arrangements across all polling stations, focusing on maintaining public order and providing a seamless experience for the electorate.

During the polling day, Commissioner Kalyan personally inspected several booths in Panchkula to assess the security protocols and facilities provided to voters. He directed officials on-site to ensure that every citizen could exercise their right to vote without any inconvenience, emphasizing that the integrity of the electoral process remained a top priority. The elections covered a wide geographic area, including the municipal corporations of Ambala, Panchkula, and Sonipat, the municipal council of Rewari, and several municipal committees such as Dharuhera, Sampla, and Uklana. Additionally, various rural local body positions, including those for district councils and village sarpanches, were filled through these polls.

To uphold the highest standards of transparency, the commission maintained constant surveillance over every stage of the election. Sensitive and highly sensitive polling stations were placed under special observation, with micro-observers deployed and videography utilized to monitor the proceedings. The administration worked in close coordination with the police force to enforce the model code of conduct and manage the crowd effectively. Furthermore, rigorous verification of voter lists was conducted beforehand to identify and rectify any duplicate or suspicious entries, ensuring a clean and reliable voter turnout.

The commission also prioritized voter comfort by providing essential amenities such as drinking water, shade, and seating arrangements at all locations. Special provisions including ramps and wheelchairs were made available for persons with disabilities and senior citizens, while dedicated assistance was provided to female voters. Following the conclusion of the polls, the State Election Commissioner expressed his gratitude to the citizens for their enthusiastic participation, noting that their commitment to democratic values is what strengthens the nation. He also extended his appreciation to the election staff, security personnel, and the media for their collective role in the successful completion of the electoral mission.
