Three Dead in Hardoi After Truck Hits Motorcycle; Driver in Custody

Jammu (Rajeev Sharma): A tragic road accident on the Jammu-Srinagar National Highway claimed the lives of three men from Haryana and left two others injured after their vehicle collided with a truck in the Nagrota area during the early hours of Sunday.

Police officials said the mishap occurred around 2:15 a.m. near the Jagti-Karli stretch when the car reportedly rammed into a truck with tremendous force. The impact severely damaged the vehicle, trapping the occupants inside.

Emergency responders and local police rushed to the scene and launched rescue operations. Two passengers were declared dead at the spot, while another victim, who had sustained critical injuries, was shifted to the Government Medical College and Hospital in Jammu. Doctors later confirmed that he had succumbed to his injuries.

The deceased have been identified as Sikander Saifi, Shakti and Mohit Verma, all residents of Haryana. Their bodies have been sent for post-mortem examination before being handed over to their families.

Two other occupants of the car, Deepak Verma and Kuldeep Sharma, survived the crash but suffered injuries. They are currently undergoing treatment at the hospital, where their condition is reported to be under medical observation.

Authorities have initiated an investigation to determine the exact cause of the accident. Preliminary findings suggest that the collision occurred on a busy section of the national highway, though officials are examining all possible factors, including speed and road conditions.

The incident once again underscores the dangers associated with late-night highway travel and has prompted renewed calls for motorists to exercise greater caution while driving on major inter-state routes.

Police have registered a case and further legal proceedings are underway.
