New Delhi (Rajeev Sharma): Delhi Police have arrested a 45-year-old woman and a 20-year-old man in connection with the killing of a 55-year-old man in the Sangam Vihar area, with investigators suspecting that domestic discord and financial disagreements may have played a role in the crime.
The deceased, identified as Munna Lal, was found in a seriously injured condition on Ratiya Marg on August 10. He was taken to the AIIMS Trauma Centre, where he was subsequently declared dead.
Police have identified the arrested woman as Manju, the wife of Munna Lal, while her alleged associate has been identified as Chaman. Another man, 28-year-old Kishan, has been bound down for allegedly providing shelter to the accused.
CCTV footage provides crucial leads
Investigators began examining the circumstances surrounding the death immediately after the incident. CCTV footage from the area, technical surveillance and evidence gathered during the forensic examination of the crime scene were analysed as part of the probe.
According to the police, the investigation gradually revealed indications of a conspiracy and helped the team identify the alleged involvement of the accused.
The police suspect that the attack was not an impulsive act and are examining the sequence of events leading up to Munna Lal’s death.
Domestic and financial issues under scanner
Investigators believe disputes within the household, along with financial concerns, could have been behind the alleged murder. Police are now examining the nature of the disagreements and the circumstances in which the alleged conspiracy was planned.
The exact role of each accused is being established as the investigation progresses.
Police said further investigation is underway, with teams continuing to collect evidence and verify the sequence of events surrounding the killing.
