Dehradun, November 5, 2025 — A delegation of saints and spiritual leaders met Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami at his residence as part of the state’s silver-jubilee celebrations. The meeting focused on preserving cultural heritage, promoting religious tourism, and preparing for the Haridwar Kumbh Mela scheduled for 2027.
The visiting saints lauded CM Dhami’s efforts toward strengthening Uttarakhand’s spiritual identity, addressing him as the “Protector of Dharma of Devbhoomi.” They praised recent government measures supporting social harmony, heritage upkeep, and tourism growth, and extended their blessings to the people of Uttarakhand on the state’s 25th anniversary.
Discussions centred on heritage site maintenance, crowd and traffic management, sanitation, and infrastructure upgrades around pilgrimage centres. The saints assured full cooperation with the government in planning for Kumbh 2027, emphasizing coordination among Akhadas, religious bodies, and civil society to manage devotees, ensure cleanliness, and maintain order during the grand event.
Suggestions also included enhancing signage, improving facilities along major pilgrimage routes, and preserving traditional art forms, rituals, and customs. Participants noted that Uttarakhand is fast emerging as a global spiritual destination and urged policies that balance rising tourism with cultural and environmental conservation.
The meeting was attended by prominent religious figures, including Acharya Mahamandaleshwar Kailashanand Giri, Swami Avdheshanand Giri, Swami Chidanand Saraswati, Swami Ravindrapuri, Pt. Dhirendra Krishna Shastri, Acharya Balkrishna, Jaya Kishori, and Dr. Kumar Vishwas. Officials said consultations with religious organizations will continue to ensure smooth coordination for major pilgrimages, including Kumbh 2027.
