Chandigarh (Balwinder Singh): Haryana Assembly Speaker Harvinder Kalyan stated on Sunday that Saint Shiromani Guru Ravidas Maharaj’s life remains a timeless source of inspiration for humanity, equality, social harmony, and selfless service. Speaking at a ceremony in Kambopura village within the Gharaunda assembly constituency, the Speaker emphasized that the saint demonstrated through his deeds and philosophy that a person’s identity is defined by their character, actions, and commitment to service rather than their birth or caste.
The event marked the arrival of the sacred Kalash Vandan Yatra at the local Saint Ravidas Temple, which was flagged off from the saint’s birthplace at Seer Goverdhanpur in Kashi to celebrate the upcoming 650th birth anniversary of Guru Ravidas. Welcoming the yatra alongside a large gathering of devotees and community representatives, Kalyan noted that such cultural journeys spread a powerful message of national unity, brotherhood, and a discrimination-free society.
Calling upon citizens to adopt the saint’s teachings in daily life, the Assembly Speaker highlighted that spiritual leaders belong to entire humanity rather than any single community. He stressed the importance of unity, overcoming social divides, and working collectively to empower every section of society without bias, acknowledging national efforts led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi to preserve cultural heritage alongside social development. The reception was attended by Chairman Bharat Bhushan Juyal, former Chairperson Nirmal Bairagi, local public representatives, and various social organizations.
