Chandigarh (Gurpreet Singh): A change in weather conditions is becoming noticeable across Punjab, with cooler nights and early-morning fog expected to mark the coming days. The Meteorological Department has forecast fog in parts of the state and Chandigarh over the next three days, although sunshine and dry weather are likely to continue through Diwali.
For November 5, the forecast indicates clear skies across the region, accompanied by north-westerly winds. These winds are bringing cooler conditions, particularly during the morning and after sunset. No significant rainfall is expected over the next six days, while isolated parts of Punjab could receive light rain after November 10.
Visibility may fall during early hours as light to moderate fog develops in some areas. The conditions could affect road travel, prompting motorists to drive carefully, especially on routes where visibility is reduced. Fog was also reported in Amritsar and Chandigarh on November 3.
Temperature gap between cities becomes noticeable
Faridkot emerged as the coldest location during the night, recording a minimum of 13.4°C. Mohali had the warmest night among the cities mentioned, with the minimum temperature settling at 17°C.
Chandigarh recorded 14.4°C, followed by Ludhiana at 14.7°C, Patiala at 15°C and Amritsar at 15.5°C. The readings indicate that most areas are experiencing cooler nights, although temperatures differ from city to city.
Ropar remains hottest during daytime
The daytime temperature pattern continues to be different from the conditions after sunset. Ropar registered the state’s highest maximum temperature at 32.9°C, while the average maximum across Punjab rose slightly by 0.3°C. Overall, daytime temperatures are now close to normal for this time of year.
With no immediate rainfall expected, residents are likely to experience sunny afternoons alongside increasingly chilly mornings and nights. The weather department’s forecast suggests that this pattern will persist until a possible change in conditions after November 10.
