Punjab and Haryana May Be Separate Geographically, but Our Soul Is One: Nayab Singh Saini

Chandigarh (Balwinder Singh): Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini emphasized the profound cultural and spiritual bond between Punjab and Haryana, stating that while the two may be distinct states on a map, they share a singular soul. Speaking on Friday at the 24th Nirvana Divas ceremony of Satguru Brahmanand Maharaj Bhuriwale in Pojewal, Punjab, the Chief Minister remarked that the shared lifestyle, values, and traditions of the region are the enduring gifts of spiritual leaders who transcend political boundaries. He asserted that saints do not belong to a specific state but to all of humanity, embodying the ancient principle of the world as one family.

During the event, Chief Minister Saini announced a financial grant of ₹11 lakh to support the foundation’s ongoing efforts in promoting education for daughters. He noted that the teachings of Satguru Brahmanand Maharaj are as deeply revered in Haryana as they are in Punjab, with a vast number of followers in both states. The Chief Minister linked this spiritual legacy to the modern governance model of the “double-engine” government, which he claimed is rooted in the philosophy of Antyodaya—ensuring that the benefits of development reach the very last person in the social hierarchy.

The Chief Minister highlighted the importance of accessible education as a core mission of his administration, drawing parallels to the educational institutions established by the Maharaj’s followers. He shared that the Haryana government has strategically opened colleges within a 20-kilometre radius across the state to ensure that every girl has the opportunity to study near her home. By removing geographical and financial barriers to higher education, the government aims to fulfill the vision of social upliftment championed by great spiritual and political thinkers alike.

Reflecting on the social reforms initiated by the Maharaj, Saini praised his lifelong crusade against drug addiction and his emphasis on maintaining good health and mental purity. He urged the youth of today to remain firmly grounded in their cultural and spiritual roots despite the rapid pace of modern technology. The Chief Minister concluded by stating that while the Maharaj is no longer present in physical form, his teachings continue to provide a roadmap for serving the suffering and maintaining communal harmony. The ceremony was attended by several prominent figures, including Swami Chetnanand Maharaj and Rajya Sabha MP Satnam Singh Sandhu.
