Moga (Gurpreet Singh): A tragic incident has shocked Punjab’s Moga district after a young advocate allegedly died from a gunshot wound caused by the accidental discharge of his licensed revolver at his residence in Buttar town.
The deceased, Amninder Singh, 35, was the son of Harbhupinder Singh Ladi, a senior Shiromani Akali Dal leader and former chairman. His sudden demise has sent shockwaves through political circles, the legal fraternity and the local community.
According to initial information, the incident occurred late at night when the licensed firearm reportedly went off unexpectedly. The circumstances leading to the discharge are yet to be established, and investigators are examining all possible angles.
Amninder sustained a critical gunshot injury and was unable to survive despite efforts to save him. His death has left family members, relatives and well-wishers devastated, with a large number of people visiting the family to offer their condolences.
Police have initiated an inquiry into the incident. Station House Officer Jaswinder Singh of Badhni Kalan Police Station said the preliminary investigation suggests that the firing appears to have been accidental. However, officials are awaiting further evidence before reaching a final conclusion.
The body has been shifted to the mortuary for post-mortem examination. Police said statements from the deceased’s family members will be recorded as part of the investigation, after which appropriate legal proceedings will follow.
Authorities have maintained that the probe is still at an early stage and that all available evidence will be carefully examined to determine the exact sequence of events behind the fatal shooting.
