Gurpreet Singh :- In a daring incident, thieves targeted an electricity meter box located just about 90 steps from the Nihal Singh Wala police station, near the bus stand, and stole copper wires late at night. The act was carried out while the power supply was live, leading to an immediate outage in the area.
The incident has raised serious concerns, especially as it occurred just a day after the newly posted Station House Officer took charge, highlighting the boldness of the miscreants even in close proximity to a police station.
Officials from the Power Corporation who reached the spot to restore supply confirmed that costly copper wires had been stolen. Rajesh Kumar, an official, stated that such incidents have occurred earlier as well, resulting in repeated losses to the department.
Police said an investigation has been initiated and CCTV footage from the surrounding area is being examined. Station House Officer Jatinder Singh stated that efforts are underway to identify and apprehend the culprits.
