POLITICAL SHAKE-UP IN METRO VANCOUVER: NEW MAYORS TAKE CHARGE IN LANGLEY AND DELTA

Langley (Richa Walia): Voters across Langley and Delta have delivered a strong message at the ballot box, electing new mayors and bringing significant changes to municipal leadership. Jay Lundgren won the Langley Township mayoral race with 54 per cent of the vote, defeating incumbent Eric Woodward, while Delaney Mack secured 61 per cent in Langley City to defeat incumbent Nathan Pachal. Both incoming mayors are expected to have majority support on their respective councils, giving them a stronger platform to pursue their priorities.

In Delta, Melissa Granum of Delta First emerged as the new mayor after leading the polls from start to finish on election night. She scored a major victory over incumbent Mayor George Harvie of Achieving for Delta, while incumbent councillor Dylan Kruger, also of Delta First, was among the candidates Granum defeated in the mayoral contest.

The results mark a notable political shift across these Metro Vancouver communities, with voters choosing new leadership in all three municipal races. The incoming mayors will now face expectations to deliver on key local priorities, including housing, infrastructure, responsible growth, public services and community safety. With council majorities expected in Langley Township and Langley City, attention will focus on whether the new leadership can turn campaign promises into meaningful results for residents.

The election outcomes underline a changing municipal political landscape, where voter confidence will ultimately be measured by performance, accountability and the ability to respond to community concerns.
