Amit Shah to Visit Sangrur, Batala and Mansa on October 20, Meet Families Hit by Drug Abuse

New Delhi (Gurpreet Singh): Union Home Minister Amit Shah is scheduled to visit Punjab on October 20, with meetings planned with families affected by drug abuse in three locations across the state, BJP leader and Union Minister Ravneet Singh Bittu announced.

According to Bittu, Shah will travel to Sangrur, Batala and Mansa as part of the visit. In a post on X, the Union Minister welcomed the programme and urged people in Punjab to support efforts aimed at tackling the drug problem.

Bittu described substance abuse as a major challenge for Punjab, particularly because of its impact on young people and their families. He called for firm measures to address the issue and stressed the need to work towards a drug-free state.

The BJP leader also criticised the Aam Aadmi Party-led government, alleging that it had lost public confidence before completing its term. His remarks added a political dimension to the upcoming visit, which is expected to focus on the experiences of families dealing with the consequences of drug addiction.

The planned interactions with affected families could bring greater attention to the social and personal difficulties associated with substance abuse, including the strain placed on households seeking support and recovery options.

Shah’s visit comes amid continuing political debate in Punjab over how best to confront the drug menace. Further details about the schedule and the meetings are awaited.
