New Delhi (Rajeev Sharma): Prime Minister Narendra Modi marked his 76th birthday on Thursday by acknowledging a musical tribute that brings together scenes of his interactions with people across the country.
The video, built around the song “Ashirwad Ka Diya,” combines footage of Modi meeting citizens with stories highlighting government initiatives in areas such as housing, healthcare, electricity and cooking fuel.
One of the video’s central moments shows a woman lighting a traditional lamp. Asked by her daughter about the reason, she explains that the diya is meant as a blessing for someone she believes brought light into her family’s life.
The tribute also moves beyond individual beneficiaries, showcasing infrastructure and development projects associated with different sectors, including farming, manufacturing, education and healthcare.
Modi responded to the video in a post on X, describing the gesture as particularly meaningful to him. He said the affection expressed through the song had touched him and added that every blessing strengthens his determination to continue serving the country.
“Ashirwad Ka Diya” has been performed by singer Sneha Shankar, with the music composed by Aman Pant. Pant said the song was created as a tribute to Modi’s years of public service.
The Prime Minister’s birthday is also being observed by the Bharatiya Janata Party through a series of public programmes and service activities. The celebrations are being conducted under the broader “Sewa Diwas” initiative.
The BJP has launched the “Seva Sankalp Abhiyan”, a month-long programme featuring outreach and service-related activities in different parts of the country.
Another part of the celebrations is the “Ashirwad Ka Diya” campaign, under which lamp-lighting events are planned at more than 500 locations. BJP president Nitin Nabin has also urged people to light diyas at home as a gesture wishing the Prime Minister a long life, good health and continued success.
Born in Vadnagar, Gujarat, on September 17, 1950, Modi turned 76 on Thursday. His birthday celebrations this year combine political party programmes, public-service activities and cultural tributes centred on his years in public life.
