Washington (Rajeev Sharma): Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday voiced relief after learning that Donald Trump, First Lady Melania Trump, and Vice President JD Vance were safe following a security breach during a high-profile event in Washington, D.C..

In a message shared on social media, Modi extended his wishes for their continued safety and strongly denounced violence, stating that such acts have no place in a democratic society.

The incident took place during the White House Correspondents’ Dinner, where a man reportedly attempted to approach the venue carrying weapons. Security personnel acted swiftly, intercepting and detaining the suspect before any harm could be caused.

Authorities confirmed that all dignitaries under Secret Service protection were immediately evacuated as a precaution. Among those present at the gathering were several senior US officials, including members of the administration and top cabinet leaders.
