New Delhi (Gurpreet Singh): Prime Minister Narendra Modi issued a late-night video message addressing the growing public outcry over examination irregularities, promising swift legislative action and the establishment of fast-track courts to prosecute those responsible for paper leaks. Acknowledging that paper leaks affect millions of students and their families, the Prime Minister revealed that a draft bill providing for stringent punishment has been prepared and will be discussed during the upcoming Cabinet meeting before being introduced in Parliament during the ongoing monsoon session.
The Prime Minister’s address highlighted recent government measures, noting that law enforcement agencies have arrested key culprits over the past two and a half months while prioritizing the timely conduct of examinations to safeguard students’ academic progress. He emphasized that establishing fast-track courts remains a top priority for his administration to deliver rapid justice in examination fraud cases.
The announcement coincided with intensifying demonstrations led by the Cockroach Janata Party (CJP) at Jantar Mantar and across multiple cities, where student groups continue to demand the resignation of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan. CJP founder Abhijeet Dipke dismissed the Prime Minister’s assurances and warned that failure to remove Pradhan from office would escalate political pressure directly toward the Prime Minister’s resignation. As part of its expanding movement, the youth-led group called for a nationwide peaceful protest on Friday.
