Makkah (Rajeev Sharma): Pakistan Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Army Chief and Chief of Defence Forces Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir joined other senior members of the country’s leadership to perform Umrah in the holy city of Makkah.
The Pakistani delegation included Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar, Defence Minister Khawaja Asif, Information Minister Attaullah Tarar and Special Assistant to the Prime Minister Tariq Fatemi, besides other officials.
Special visit to Kaaba
Before beginning the Umrah rituals, the Pakistani delegation was accorded the opportunity to visit the Kaaba Sharif.
The leaders subsequently completed the religious rites of Umrah at the Grand Mosque in Makkah.
The visit brought together Pakistan’s top political and military leadership during their stay in the holy city.
Prayers for Pakistan and peace
Following the completion of Umrah, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, Field Marshal Asim Munir and members of the delegation offered prayers for the peace, stability and prosperity of Pakistan.
They also prayed for the security and well-being of the Muslim Ummah and sought peace across the region and the wider world.
The delegation’s prayers focused on national progress as well as regional and global peace, according to the statement issued regarding the visit.
