Gurpreet Singh :- Acting under the directions of the Punjab Government and the Director General of Police, Punjab, the Sri Muktsar Sahib Police carried out a large-scale surprise search operation inside the district jail as part of the ongoing state-wide campaign “Gangsters De Vaar” aimed at dismantling criminal networks and tightening security within correctional facilities.
The operation was conducted under the supervision of SSP Sri Muktsar Sahib Abhimanyu Rana, who has been leading a strict crackdown against organised crime and gangster activities in the district. The primary objective of the operation was to identify and eliminate any illegal communication channels, suspicious activities, or hidden criminal networks operating from within the jail premises.
The search operation was jointly coordinated by Jail Superintendent Iqbal Singh Brar, Deputy Superintendent Puneet Garg and DSP Bachan Singh. More than 65 police personnel from different police stations across the district were deployed during the operation under a tight security arrangement.
Police teams conducted intensive searches across barracks, wards and other sensitive areas of the jail. Inmates and undertrial prisoners were frisked thoroughly while their belongings were also checked in detail. Bathrooms, store rooms, rooftops, hidden corners and other vulnerable locations were carefully inspected to ensure that no prohibited material or suspicious activity went unnoticed.
Security around entry and exit points of the jail was also strengthened during the drive. Officials further questioned several suspicious inmates to gather intelligence regarding possible illegal operations or criminal links being managed from inside the prison.
Authorities stated that the joint operation also included a review of the jail’s existing security arrangements. Necessary instructions were issued on the spot wherever loopholes or weaknesses were identified.
Police officials reiterated that the campaign against gangsters and organised crime would continue with full intensity and that no attempt to misuse jail premises for criminal activities would be tolerated.
