Chandigarh (Balwinder Singh): Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini on Sunday paid rich tributes to Maharishi Valmiki on his birth anniversary, noting that the great sage introduced the world to the noble virtues of Lord Ram through the Ramayana. Addressing a state-level commemorative gathering organised under the Sant Mahapurush Prachar-Prasar Yojana at Sant Kabir Kutir in Chandigarh, the Chief Minister underlined that the epic serves not merely as revered literature, but as an enduring guide to human conduct, perseverance, empathy, and social equality.
Marking the auspicious occasion, Chief Minister Saini announced a financial grant of ₹31 lakh toward the ongoing construction of the Valmiki Hostel in Hisar. Reaffirming the state’s dedication to holistic education and student welfare, the Chief Minister declared his intention to visit the site shortly for the foundation ceremony. He emphasized that financial constraints must never derail a talented student’s aspirations, pointing to direct benefit transfers for scholarships, competitive coaching facilities, and hostel upgrades established across the state. Saini also noted that recent recruitment drives have seen 604 candidates from the community selected into the Haryana Police force.
Reflecting on the timeless philosophy of Maharishi Valmiki, the Chief Minister emphasized that authentic devotion involves eliminating all forms of caste, social, or occupational discrimination. Highlighting initiatives undertaken in Ayodhya Dham—including the dedicated shrines honoring Maharishi Valmiki, Nishad Raj, and Mata Shabari, alongside naming the international airport after the sage—he stated that administrative policies in Haryana are formulated to uplift the most vulnerable. Saini called upon the state’s three crore residents to discard sectarian divisions, strengthen communal brotherhood, and drive regional development in harmony with national growth visions.
Haryana Development and Panchayats Minister Krishan Lal Panwar also addressed the gathering, commending the administration’s state-level tributes to spiritual luminaries and reinforcing that education remains the ultimate catalyst for community advancement. The event witnessed the presence of notable dignitaries, including MLA Kapoor Singh Valmiki, Panchkula Mayor Shyam Lal Bansal, former minister Vishamber Valmiki, Haryana State Safai Karamchari Commission Chairman Ishwar Singh Palaka, and former Assembly Speaker Gian Chand Gupta.
