Amritsar (Gurpreet Singh): The investigation into the killing of Punjabi makeup artist and influencer Mad Sandhu has taken a new turn after an audio recording circulating on social media purportedly claims responsibility for the murder.
The recording names Goldy Dhillon, Lucky Johal and Mani Paddu in connection with the killing. However, the authenticity of the audio and the identities of the people heard in it have not been independently established.
The recording opens with a Sikh religious greeting before the speaker allegedly claims that the group was behind Sandhu’s killing. The speaker also rejects other claims circulating about the incident and says that evidence is available to support their version.
According to the audio, the killing was allegedly not motivated by financial gain. The speaker instead makes allegations about Sandhu’s activities and claims that his actions were creating an undesirable atmosphere in Punjab.
The recording also contains a threat directed at a person identified as Arupreet, with the speaker allegedly warning that he could be targeted next.
Police yet to make arrests
Mad Sandhu was shot in Amritsar in a recent attack and later died from his injuries while being taken to hospital. The killing triggered concern among his followers and people associated with Punjab’s entertainment and social media circles.
The case remains under investigation, and police have not publicly confirmed the claims made in the circulating audio. No suspect has so far been officially identified as responsible for the murder based solely on the recording.
Investigators are expected to examine the audio as part of their probe and determine whether the people claiming responsibility have any connection with the shooting.
The development comes amid heightened attention on violent incidents involving firearms in the region. An ASI was also killed in a separate shooting incident recently, adding to concerns surrounding such attacks.
For now, police are continuing to collect evidence and investigate the circumstances surrounding Sandhu’s death. The alleged responsibility claim in the viral recording will need to be verified before any conclusions can be drawn about the identities or motives of those behind the murder.
