Uttarkashi, Uttarakhand (Rajeev Sharma): A labourer was rescued safely after getting stranded in the fast-flowing waters of the Yamuna River near the Kharadi suspension bridge in Uttarkashi district.
The incident prompted an immediate response from multiple emergency agencies. Teams from the local police, Fire Department and State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) reached the location after being alerted about the stranded worker.
Rescuers assessed the strong river currents before launching the operation. Working together, the teams approached the labourer and successfully brought him out of the river to safety.
The coordinated effort by the three departments ensured that the rescue was completed without further incident. The operation also underlined the risks posed by swollen and fast-moving rivers in the mountainous areas of Uttarakhand.
Authorities continue to urge people working or travelling near rivers and other water bodies to exercise caution, particularly when currents are strong and water levels are elevated.
