Innocent Resident Injured in Northeast Edmonton Shooting, Police Seek Public Help

Edmonton ( Rajeev Sharma): The Edmonton Police Service (EPS) is appealing to the public for information and video footage following a shooting incident in northeast Edmonton in March 2025.

Police say that on March 30, 2025, officers were alerted after an adult male arrived at a medical facility with a gunshot wound. Investigators later determined the man had been asleep inside his home near 34 Street and Abbottsfield Road when he suddenly awoke around 5:40 a.m. with an unexplained injury. It was later confirmed he had been struck by a gunshot. His injuries were non-life-threatening.

Providing an official statement, EPS confirmed that the victim had no known criminal ties and was not previously known to police.
“This resident has no criminal involvement, and his residence is not known to police,” said Andrew Furman. “This incident emphasizes the inherent danger to innocent bystanders when shootings take place, and we are grateful that his injuries were not more severe or fatal.”

Police further added that investigators have exhausted available leads so far and are now relying on public cooperation. Authorities are particularly requesting anyone who was in the area at the time or who may have dashcam or surveillance footage to come forward and assist with the investigation.
The EPS continues to urge residents to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activity as the investigation remains ongoing.
