NEW DELHI (Rajeev Sharma): India has stepped up its humanitarian assistance to Nepal with another consignment of relief supplies, as an Indian Air Force aircraft delivered 11 tonnes of essential material to support the neighbouring country’s recovery efforts.
The latest shipment included a range of supplies such as medicines, forensic equipment, tents, hygiene kits, sleeping bags and other essential items, according to the Ministry of External Affairs.
The MEA said the consignment has been handed over to the Nepali authorities, marking another step in India’s ongoing relief support for Nepal.
Ninth IAF flight reaches Nepal
The latest delivery was carried by the Indian Air Force and is the ninth IAF aircraft to transport relief material to Nepal as part of India’s assistance.
The consignments have been aimed at addressing immediate requirements on the ground, with medical supplies and temporary shelter material forming an important part of the latest shipment.
The inclusion of forensic supplies also indicates the broader nature of the assistance being provided, alongside items intended to meet basic shelter, hygiene and healthcare requirements.
India continues support for recovery
The latest tranche comes as Nepal continues its recovery efforts, with India maintaining its humanitarian support to the country.
The External Affairs Ministry said the material delivered through the latest flight has now been formally handed over to the Nepali side.
With nine Indian Air Force aircraft having transported relief supplies so far, New Delhi’s assistance has continued through successive consignments tailored to Nepal’s requirements.
