Chandigarh (Balwinder Singh): —Haryana Social Justice and Empowerment Minister Krishan Kumar Bedi announced that the state’s comprehensive sports policy has emerged as a model for the entire country under the leadership of Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini. Speaking as the chief guest at the closing ceremony of the Corporate League Season One in Gosain Khera village, Jind, Bedi highlighted that transparent incentives, world-class training facilities, and modern infrastructure have empowered local athletes to consistently excel at national and international arenas. To further support local sports initiatives, the minister announced a financial grant of 7.21 lakh rupees for the tournament’s organizing committee.
The minister emphasized that the state government remains dedicated to providing comprehensive backing to youth through increased scholarships, enhanced diet allowances, specialized insurance coverage, and the establishment of dedicated centres of excellence. Bedi noted that the overarching objective is to maintain Haryana’s position as India’s premier sporting hub while systematically preparing athletes for upcoming Olympic and international events. Beyond sports, he reiterated that the current administration is driving balanced regional growth across all critical sectors, including education, healthcare, infrastructure, irrigation, and women’s empowerment, ensuring that welfare schemes reach the most marginalized segments transparently.
Highlighting the broader social impact of sports, Bedi stated that institutional support for athletic activities plays a critical role in steering the younger generation away from substance abuse. The state government has integrated sports promotion with massive public awareness campaigns, workshops, and rallies to build a healthier, drug-free society.
