Chandigarh (Balwinder Singh): The Haryana Government is actively working to establish the state as a vibrant hub for cinema, creative industries, and regional arts. In line with this vision, the administration has announced that the first-ever state-level Haryana Film Festival-2026 will be organized from November 12 to 15, 2026. The initiative follows a formal declaration made by Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini during his annual budget speech, aiming to provide local artists with a prominent stage to showcase their creativity.
To review foundational preparations for the four-day event, a high-level administrative meeting was held on Tuesday under the chairmanship of K. Makrand Pandurang, Director General of the Information, Public Relations, Languages, and Culture Department. The strategic meeting saw active participation from senior officials of the Department of Art and Cultural Affairs alongside experts from the Dada Lakhmi Chand State University of Performing and Visual Arts, Rohtak. To manage day-to-day operations seamlessly, the director general announced the formation of a dedicated core committee responsible for curating the event framework, selecting screening schedules, managing publicity campaigns, and handling logistics with external cultural agencies.
State officials intend to position the festival as a prestigious cultural event of national and international stature. The platform will serve to promote Haryanvi cinema, folk literature, and the state’s rich historical heritage to a global audience. The state government plans to ensure wide-ranging participation from prominent international filmmakers, technical directors, actors, and media academicians. Pandurang highlighted that the maiden film festival will unlock fresh professional avenues for emerging rural talents and young visual storytellers, ultimately playing a transformative role in elevating Haryana’s footprint within the global entertainment sector.
