Chandigarh (Balwinder Singh): The Haryana Government has delivered a major financial benefit to its rural sanitation workforce by officially implementing a significant monthly wage hike. Haryana Social Justice and Empowerment Minister Krishan Kumar Bedi announced on Tuesday that the state administration has cleared a monthly salary increase of ₹2,100 for all rural sanitation workers (Gramin Safai Karamcharis). This structural revision raises the base monthly payout for these grassroots workers from ₹16,000 to ₹18,100 with immediate effect, bringing immense relief to thousands of families employed across the state’s rural local bodies.
The timely wage hike completely fulfils a key statutory promise made by the state government to the workers’ unions during their recent widespread strike over working conditions and compensation. Minister Bedi highlighted that the Nayab Singh Saini-led administration is consistently taking pro-people, welfare-centric decisions to support ground-level public service employees. According to the official directive, the enhanced salary structure will be systematically credited to the bank accounts of all eligible sanitation workers starting July 1, 2026.
Expressing deep gratitude to Chief Minister Naib Singh Saini for approving the financial increment, the Social Justice Minister noted that the swift resolution has sparked widespread celebration among sanitation worker associations and rural unions. The minister reiterated the government’s long-term commitment to ensuring social security and dignity of labour for frontline workers, adding that this salary correction will significantly boost the morale of the workforce dedicated to maintaining rural cleanliness and public health across Haryana.
