Chandigarh (Balwinder Singh) — Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini led high-level bilateral discussions with an Australian delegation headed by High Commissioner Philip Green on Wednesday, identifying substantial avenues for strategic cooperation across higher education, vocational skilling, innovation, sustainable agriculture, and clean energy. The talks focused on translating the broader Comprehensive Strategic Partnership between India and Australia into tangible regional benefits for Haryana’s workforce, farming communities, and burgeoning industrial sector.
The high-level meeting brought together key administrative and foreign cooperation officials, alongside representatives from the Australia-India Business Council, to examine ways to deepen business-to-business linkages and attract direct foreign investment into the state. Chief Minister Saini highlighted Haryana’s rapid industrial expansion, skilled talent base, and strategic logistics advantages, framing the province as a prime destination for Australian enterprises engaged in advanced manufacturing, automotive innovation, agritech, and Industry 4.0 applications. In turn, High Commissioner Green extended an official invitation to the Chief Minister to visit Australia to further advance trade and diplomatic relations.
A central priority of the deliberations was aligning state skilling frameworks with global employment demand. The delegations explored institutional tie-ups linking Australian technical institutes with Haryana’s industrial training institutes, polytechnics, and specialized skill universities. The initiative envisions customized curriculums, industry-grade certification, and language proficiencies designed to prepare local candidates for overseas careers in critical Australian sectors, including healthcare, construction, advanced manufacturing, logistics, and information technology.
Academic and research collaboration featured prominently, with discussions focusing on joint degree programs, faculty exchanges, and shared research between Australian universities and Haryana institutions. Key collaborative fields include artificial intelligence, cybersecurity, clean technologies, public policy, and precision agriculture. In the agrarian space, the two sides discussed modernizing farming through climate-resilient practices, water conservation techniques, farm mechanization, dairy technologies, and cold-chain infrastructure.
The dialogue also addressed emerging opportunities in renewable energy and athletic development.
