Chandigarh (Balwinder Singh): Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini launched nine major healthcare projects worth over 100 crore during a state-level event in Panchkula on Friday. Accompanied by Health Minister Kumari Arti Singh Rao and Minister for Women and Child Development Shruti Choudhary, the Chief Minister inaugurated 30 health institutions built at a cost of 22.29 crore and laid the foundation stone for 16 health institutions valued at 21.50 crore. The initiative aims to strengthen the state’s medical infrastructure and bring high-end diagnostic facilities directly to district hospitals, ensuring accessible and affordable medical care for all citizens.
As part of the mega launch, the state government expanded high-end diagnostic services under the public-private partnership model. This includes the introduction of MRI services at district hospitals in Panipat and Kurukshetra costing 12 crore, alongside CT scan services at the Bahadurgarh sub-divisional hospital and Charkhi Dadri district hospital valued at 10 crore. Additionally, the Chief Minister inaugurated the “Swasth Nari, Sashakt Parivar” dedicated women’s clinics across 23 district hospitals to provide specialized screenings for cervical cancer, breast cancer, anemia, and menopause management.
Addressing the gathering, Chief Minister Saini emphasized the government’s historic focus on public health, noting that the state’s health budget has been raised to 14,000 crore this fiscal year, marking a 32.89% increase. He highlighted the massive transformation since 2014, when the health budget stood at just 2,646 crore and the state had only six medical colleges. Today, Haryana boasts 17 medical colleges, with MBBS seats expanding from 700 to 2,710. To tackle the shortage of medical staff, the Chief Minister announced that the recruitment of 777 medical officers has been completed, while the hiring process for another 450 officers is in its final stages.
The extensive healthcare package also rolled out tele-ECG services across 600 health centres to facilitate the early detection of cardiac ailments, alongside free dialysis facilities at Maharishi Chyawan Medical College in Narnaul and Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee Government Medical College in Chhaysa, Faridabad. To offer affordable medications, foundation stones were laid for Amrit Pharmacies across 23 district hospitals. The Chief Minister also launched a specialized disaster management and first-aid training program for 4,600 ASHA workers, releasing an official training manual during the event while honoring corporate partners for their contributions to the state’s healthcare sector.
