Chandigarh, August 27 – Haryana Agriculture and Farmers Welfare Minister Shyam Singh Rana informed the Assembly that sugarcane farmers are owed ₹16.74 crore by Narayangarh Sugar Mill for the 2024-25 season. Out of this amount, ₹5.40 crore will be released by September 5, while the remaining ₹11.34 crore will be cleared by December 15, 2025, after the commencement of the crushing season in November. He gave this assurance in response to a question raised by a member during the Assembly session.
On the same day, Haryana’s Irrigation and Water Resources Minister Shruti Choudhry said during the monsoon session that the state government has taken concrete steps to resolve waterlogging issues in Hansi constituency villages. She said that in four villages—Bhatol Jattan, Jeetpura, Chainnat, and Thurana—seven projects worth ₹2,378.31 lakh have been sanctioned to drain floodwater from agricultural fields. Three projects have already been completed, effectively removing stagnant water, while work on the remaining four is ongoing and will be completed by March 31, 2026.
She further stated that in five other villages—Dhana Kalan, Mehnda, Bhatla, Kumbha, and Rampura—waterlogging is being closely monitored during the current monsoon. Permanent drainage schemes will be approved through HSDR and FCB if required. In addition, temporary EP/DP/VT pump sets are deployed every monsoon to ensure immediate water removal from fields.
The minister emphasized that the government’s goal is to ensure a permanent solution to waterlogging in all affected villages before the onset of the next monsoon.
