Chandigarh (Balwinder Singh)— Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini met with Sweden’s Minister for International Development Cooperation and Foreign Trade, Benjamin Dousa, on Thursday, holding bilateral discussions focused on expanding trade, vocational training, renewable energy, and freight logistics cooperation between Sweden and the state.
Highlighting diplomatic efforts led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Commerce Minister Piyush Goyal, Saini noted that the elevation of India-Sweden relations to a strategic partnership in May 2025 provides a solid framework for regional cooperation. Both countries have established a target to double two-way trade and investment flows over the next five years, with Saini positioning Haryana as a key manufacturing and technological gateway for Swedish firms already active in the Indian market.
During the meeting, Saini underscored Haryana’s strategic connectivity and pitched the state’s network of 18 inland container depots (dry ports) as prime assets for joint logistics ventures, integrated supply chain management, and cargo handling operations. He also advocated for collaborative initiatives in technical education and green energy infrastructure to support sustainable industrial expansion.
Welcoming the state’s outreach, Minister Dousa affirmed Sweden’s interest in identifying concrete investment pathways and deepening ties with Haryana. Saini concluded the discussions by formally extending an invitation to Dousa and Swedish trade delegations to attend the state’s upcoming “Happening Haryana” global investors summit. Haryana Urban Local Bodies Minister Vipul Goel was also part of the official delegation during the talks.
