Chandigarh (Balwinder Singh) — Haryana Sainik and Paramilitary Welfare Minister Rao Narbir Singh affirmed on Wednesday that no nation can ever fully repay the debt owed to soldiers who defend the motherland, underscoring the provincial government’s commitment to safeguarding the welfare of armed forces personnel and their families. Addressing media personnel, the minister highlighted the deep-rooted martial tradition of Haryana’s youth, noting their extensive representation across both officer ranks and other ranks throughout the armed and paramilitary forces.
Detailing major institutional support, the minister revealed that the state government has proposed a 58.93 per cent increase in the budget allocation for the Sainik and Paramilitary Welfare Department, raising it to 178.14 crore rupees. Under the direction of Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini, the administration is actively establishing the Haryana Sainik and Paramilitary Welfare Corporation to expand rehabilitation frameworks and sustainable livelihood opportunities for ex-servicemen. In addition, the state has provided government employment to 423 dependents of fallen soldiers during its tenure, alongside upward revisions in ex-gratia gallantry award amounts for armed forces and Agniveers.
Haryana has also positioned itself as the first state in the country to extend formal civil employment quotas to Agniveers on par with traditional ex-servicemen reservations. Following the completion of four years of active service by the maiden Agniveer cohort on July 31, 2026, the cabinet-approved policy secures reserved vacancies within the Haryana Police, State Public Information Offices, forest guard positions, and the fire services. To foster entrepreneurial ventures among transitioning recruits, the state has instituted interest-free enterprise loans up to 5 lakh rupees.
The minister further noted the successful conclusion of entrance examinations conducted in Panchkula for the prestigious Rashtriya Indian Military College (RIMC) Dehradun for the January 2027 academic session. Emphasizing the historic role of RIMC as a premier feeder institution for the National Defence Academy and Indian Military Academy since 1922, Singh urged eligible retired Central Armed Police Forces personnel to register on the state welfare portal so families can seamlessly access pensions, identity certification, and statutory benefits.
