Haryana Concludes Claims And Objections Window For SIR; Final Voter List Due On November 6

Chandigarh (Balwinder Singh) — The filing of claims and objections under the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) process in Haryana officially closed on September 30, paving the way for the scrutiny and disposal phase that will run until October 28, electoral authorities confirmed on Thursday. Following the resolution of all pending applications, the final updated electoral roll will be published on November 6.

According to the Additional Chief Electoral Officer, the state received a total of 377,987 applications under Form 6 for fresh voter registrations. Gurugram district recorded the highest influx of prospective voters with 39,985 applications, followed by Faridabad with 33,463 and Hisar with 22,001. Conversely, the lowest counts for Form 6 were logged in Charkhi Dadri with 7,095, Panchkula with 8,786, and Nuh with 9,087 submissions.

Simultaneously, electoral authorities received 40,162 requests under Form 7 seeking the deletion of names from the voters’ list. Panipat led deletions with 3,600 submissions, followed by Hisar with 2,790 and Sirsa with 2,539. In addition, 214,693 applications were filed under Form 8 to correct demographic details, update residential addresses, or replace voter identity cards, with Kurukshetra recording the highest number of modifications at 14,347, followed by Gurugram at 13,767 and Jind at 13,513.

Addressing concerns over verification procedures, the Additional Chief Electoral Officer stated that 4,491,691 notices had been issued across the state due to discrepancies detected during the mapping exercise. Of these, hearings have been concluded in 4,056,716 cases, leaving 434,975 hearings pending, with Faridabad, Karnal, and Hisar districts carrying the largest backlogs. Electoral Registration Officers (EROs) have been instructed to expedite these hearings strictly in accordance with Election Commission of India guidelines.

Electors who have received verification notices have been advised not to panic, but to appear before their respective EROs with supporting documentation to resolve the anomalies. In a state-level review meeting conducted with all District Election Officers via video conference, election officials were directed to re-examine all rejected Form 6 forms or electors deemed ineligible during hearings, ensuring that no legitimate voter is removed from the electoral roll without rigorous scrutiny.
