Chandigarh (Balwinder Singh): The Haryana government has taken two major decisions aimed at reinforcing the medical infrastructure across both urban and rural sectors of the state. Driven by the efforts of Haryana Health Minister Aarti Singh Rao, the state administration has sanctioned the creation of 219 new medical and administrative posts for the 200-bed District Civil Hospital in Panipat. Concurrently, approval has been granted to upgrade the Thana sub-health centre in the Kurukshetra district to a fully operational Primary Health Centre (PHC).
Health Minister Aarti Singh Rao stated that the administration is continuously working under the Chief Minister’s guidance to streamline health infrastructure for rural and urban populations alike. She noted that these structural expansions would significantly increase local capacity, improve delivery times, and make quality healthcare services more accessible to thousands of regional patients.
For the 200-bed Civil Hospital in Panipat, the newly sanctioned 219 posts are designed to address critical shortages of specialist doctors, technical workers, and nursing staff. The recruitment framework splits these assignments into two distinct structural models, creating 122 permanent positions and 97 contractual roles. The regular, permanent positions encompass a wide array of designations, including senior medical officers, medical officers, dental surgeons, clinical psychologists, physiotherapists, pharmacists, lab technicians, radiographers, operation theatre assistants, dieticians, bio-medical engineers, social workers, and public relations officers.
To fortify the auxiliary and operational support systems of the Panipat facility, the remaining 97 positions will be filled externally through the Haryana Kaushal Rozgar Nigam (HKRN). This contractual batch includes 17 data entry operators, 37 sweepers, 37 ward servants, 5 security guards, and 1 supervisor, ensuring smoother day-to-day operations and faster patient turnaround.
In a parallel development for rural health infrastructure, the upgrade of the Thana sub-centre in Kurukshetra to a full PHC will bring comprehensive baseline medical diagnostics closer to village doorsteps. The newly formed PHC has been allotted 9 permanent staff positions, including a medical officer, a female medical officer, a dental surgeon, a pharmacist, two staff nurses, a lab technician, and two Multi-Purpose Health Supervisors (one male and one female). Furthermore, three Group-D institutional support staff will be integrated into the facility via HKRN channels.
Minister Aarti Singh Rao emphasized that these initiatives reflect Haryana’s broader commitment to decentralizing quality medicine, ensuring that rural communities receive immediate local intervention while district-level hubs remain well-equipped with specialists to handle advanced clinical cases.
