Toronto (Rajeev Sharma): A series of targeted shootings have taken place at properties associated with Navi Dhesi in Canada, allegedly carried out by individuals linked to the Lawrence Bishnoi gang. The incidents, which spanned the past three days, have sparked renewed concerns about the gang’s growing reach beyond India.
The attacks came to light after a social media post, reportedly from a gang affiliate, claimed responsibility. The post accused Dhesi of collecting ₹50 lakh under the pretense of having ties with Lawrence Bishnoi. It stated that the shootings were a response to this alleged misuse of the gang’s name.
The message also warned others against exploiting the gang’s identity, while asserting that they have no interest in targeting those who earn a living honestly. “We don’t have problems with hardworking people. Our issue is with those who use our name for personal gain or to threaten others,” the post read.
Local law enforcement in Canada is investigating the incidents, though details about the specific locations or damage have not yet been publicly disclosed. No casualties have been reported as of now.
This development follows closely on the heels of the Canadian government officially designating the Bishnoi gang as a terrorist organization—a move prompted by the group’s suspected involvement in organized crime and violence overseas.
Authorities are treating the situation seriously, as it highlights the potential for cross-border criminal activity and the influence of foreign gangs operating within Canada. Investigations are ongoing, and officials are yet to confirm the authenticity of the online claims.
