Toronto (Rajeev Sharma): Punjabi singer and actor Gippy Grewal has alleged that he faced an unpleasant experience while travelling with Air Canada, claiming that he was moved from Business Class to Economy despite having purchased a Business Class ticket.
Grewal took to X to share details of the incident, stating that he was travelling on Air Canada flight AC1504 from Toronto to Newark when his seat was changed.
In his post, Grewal alleged that he had paid for a Business Class seat but was instead assigned a seat in Economy. He said that when he approached the airline staff seeking an explanation, he was told that the situation could not be changed and that he could either continue with the flight or leave.
According to the actor, the response came without an apology or a clear explanation for why his seat had been changed. He further alleged that he was warned that he could be removed from the flight when he continued to question the decision.
Grewal maintained that he was not seeking any preferential treatment from the airline. Rather, he said his concern was simply about receiving the service for which he had paid and understanding the reason behind the downgrade.
The incident attracted considerable attention on social media following Grewal’s post. Air Canada subsequently responded to him on X and apologised for the experience.
The airline asked Grewal to provide his booking reference and other relevant details through a direct message so that the matter could be examined.
Air Canada has not, however, publicly disclosed the reason for the alleged change from Business Class to Economy. Details regarding the circumstances that led to the seat change, as well as whether any refund or compensation was offered, have not been made public.
Gippy Grewal is a prominent name in the Punjabi entertainment industry and has established a career spanning music, acting and filmmaking. The alleged airline incident has now become the subject of discussion among his followers on social media.
