Focus on Timely Disposal of SIR Notices and Hearings in Haryana

Chandigarh (Balwinder Singh) — The Election Commission has directed electoral officials across Haryana to prioritize the swift and time-bound disposal of notices and pending hearings under the ongoing Special Intensive Revision (SIR). A comprehensive district-wise assessment indicates that out of a total of 4,491,923 notices generated across the state, 343,127 hearing cases remain pending, which translates to a pendency rate of 7.64 percent. To accelerate clearances, the Commission has instituted regular operational reviews and instructed authorities to enforce effective monitoring and strictly adhere to statutory protocols.

To expedite the resolution of pending files, special facilitation camps alongside intensive door-to-door verification drives will take place from October 7 to October 9 across polling stations where recipients have not yet furnished supporting documents, with officials appealing to electors to appear without fail on their designated hearing dates.

To bolster transparency in updating electoral records across 20,864 polling stations, political parties have mobilized substantial cadres of Booth Level Agents. In the BLA-2 category, the Bharatiya Janata Party leads with 19,554 appointees, followed by the Indian National Congress with 17,127, the Indian National Lok Dal with 2,186, and the Jannayak Janta Party with 1,093 agents. Representation also includes 314 agents from the Communist Party of India (Marxist), 146 from the Bahujan Samaj Party, and 54 from the Aam Aadmi Party.

At the constituency supervisory level, parties have designated senior BLA-1 representatives, comprising 90 from the BJP, 90 from Congress, 87 from JJP, 82 from AAP, 79 from INLD, 63 from BSP, and 36 from CPI(M), ensuring robust grassroots monitoring throughout the revision exercise.
