Couple Dies After Roof of House Collapses in Delhi’s JP Nagar; Probe Underway

New Delhi (Rajeev Sharma): A husband and wife lost their lives after the roof of their house collapsed in Delhi’s JP Nagar late Sunday night, officials said. The incident triggered a rescue operation involving local residents and police personnel, who worked together to pull the couple out from beneath the debris.

The victims have been identified as Tinku (32) and Urmila (30). According to police, the couple was inside the house when the roof suddenly gave way, trapping them under the rubble.

Upon receiving information, police teams rushed to the spot and, with the assistance of locals, removed the debris to rescue the victims. Both were immediately shifted to Jag Pravesh Hospital for medical attention.

Doctors at the hospital, however, declared the couple dead on arrival. The deaths were confirmed by Chief Medical Officer Dr. Santosh, officials said.

STO Sunil Sagar stated that the rescue operation was carried out promptly after the incident was reported. Authorities have not yet determined the exact cause of the roof collapse.

Police have initiated an investigation to ascertain whether the incident was caused by structural weakness, recent weather conditions, or any other contributing factor. Further legal proceedings are underway, while officials are also assessing the condition of the building.
