Chandigarh (Balwinder Singh): Urban civic amenities, electrical grids, and transit networks across Haryana are poised for major upgrades following a series of high-level project sanctions. Presiding over concurrent sessions of the High-Powered Purchase Committee and the High-Powered Works Purchase Committee at Haryana Niwas in Chandigarh, Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini authorized structural and procurement proposals totaling over 340 crore rupees. Strategic rate negotiations conducted with various commercial bidders during the review sessions resulted in a direct fiscal saving of 15.11 crore rupees for the provincial exchequer.
The intensive administrative review was attended by senior cabinet members, including Education Minister Mahipal Dhanda, Revenue and Disaster Management Minister Vipul Goel, Cooperation Minister Dr. Arvind Sharma, and Public Works Minister Ranbir Gangwa. The structural works committee evaluated an expansive civil engineering agenda, finalizing nine core infrastructural packages at a negotiated cost of 217.68 crore rupees. Concurrently, the central purchasing committee cleared four major industrial supply tenders valued at a revised cost of 123.16 crore rupees, successfully optimizing government expenditure across both development segments.
Major industrial supply contracts approved for the energy sector include comprehensive rate agreements for pilfer-resistant metering cubicles to support the Dakshin Haryana Bijli Vitran Nigam. Additionally, the Uttar Haryana Bijli Vitran Nigam received approval to procure specialized sub-station engineering assets, including vacuum circuit breaker panels, capacitor control units, and transformer distribution apparatus. To enhance rural cooperative infrastructure, the committee also cleared advanced analytical equipment for a dairy laboratory operating under the National Programme for Dairy Development by the Haryana Dairy Development Cooperative Federation.
The administrative clearances also trigger extensive municipal engineering developments across several metropolitan authorities. The Gurugram Metropolitan Development Authority secured clearance to construct a dedicated master road and adjacent service lanes separating Sectors 78 and 80. In Faridabad, the regional authority was greenlit to install six micro sewage treatment plants to sustain green belts across multiple residential sectors. Furthermore, comprehensive drainage, road widening, and sewage treatment expansions were sanctioned across Sonipat and Panchkula to modernize industrial zones and accommodate rising urban density. Saini concluded the session with strict directives to senior administrative secretaries to enforce rigorous quality compliance checks and adhere to fixed project completion timelines.
