Dehradun (Rajeev Sharma): Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami on Friday met Lieutenant General Anindya Sengupta (UYSM, AVSM, YSM), General Officer Commanding-in-Chief of the Central Command of the Indian Army, at the Chief Minister’s Camp Office to discuss strengthening coordination between the military and civil administration in the state’s border regions.
During the meeting, CM Dhami lauded the Indian Army’s role in safeguarding the nation’s unity, sovereignty, and integrity, while also highlighting its active involvement in development activities and close collaboration with civil society.
“In our border state of Uttarakhand, the Army has been playing a crucial role not only in national security but also in social initiatives. Their assistance during natural disasters in relief and rescue operations is commendable,” Dhami said.
The Chief Minister expressed his gratitude to the Army and assured full support from the state government for all military-led initiatives aimed at boosting border area development.
Army’s Development Initiatives in Border Areas
Lieutenant General Sengupta briefed CM Dhami about the programmes undertaken by the Central Command for the overall growth of Uttarakhand’s border regions. He noted that the Army is committed not only to security but also to:
- Infrastructure development in forward areas
- Community participation and youth engagement
- Promotion of tourism in border regions
He emphasized that the Army is working closely with local communities to improve living conditions and ensure sustainable growth in these remote areas.
Focus on Administrative Coordination
Separately, CM Dhami directed officials to maintain regular communication with MLAs to resolve constituency-level public issues efficiently. He instructed that top-priority matters raised by MLAs should be addressed promptly and, if required, department heads must coordinate directly with the concerned MLAs.
Dhami also announced the appointment of Additional Secretary-level officers as nodal officers for each assembly constituency to act as a bridge between the state government and local administrations. He further called for innovative projects in every constituency to highlight the cultural heritage and traditions of Uttarakhand.
